Using broken shards of glass from mirrors, beer bottles, and ceramic mugs, I created a series of book covers for Jeanette Walls’ three most beloved works. The Silver Star, The Glass Castle, and Half Broke Horses explore the true dysfunction of familial relations, adversity, love and pain. Each cover captures the raw tension between beauty and chaos at the heart of its story using tainted symbols of hope as reflection.
